Video Summary
Vince has a habit of teasing D.J. however, Vince’s jokes are actually hurtful and certainly aren’t funny. When D.J. becomes upset, Vince always says, “Can’t you take a joke? I was just kidding”. When D.J. confides in his Dad about what’s been going on his Dad helps him cope with Vince’s bullying. D.J. and his Dad meet with his teacher and a school counselor helps Vince learn how to be a better friend. Eventually, Vince stops bugging D.J. and D.J. starts hanging out with kids that make him feel good instead of bad.
Video Instructions
Video #1: For a more in depth understanding of the books, we have provided a video retelling an in-class story. Each pass through the text or illustrations allows students to dive deeper into the story’s meaning, preparing them for more complex narratives down the road.
Video #2 & Worksheet: Parents may print the worksheet corresponding to the story. In the second video, Ms Liann will guide students through completing the worksheet. Younger students will learn the appropriate sizes, shapes, and sounds of letters. Older students will learn the spelling of new words, helpful phonics rules, and how to write in complete sentences.
